TOPICS:

The main subject to the discussed and thoroughly analysed in the present event is "The other Sport", bearing in mind the place occupied by football in the world media Press, Radio, TV and Internet - when compared to the other sports. As far as this disproportionality, in dealing with football as a sport is concerned, Portugal seems to be no exception. Multiple factors that range from culture, politics, society and economy can help giving a plausible explanation for this question.
In this Seminar we hope to enable the participants to exchange experiences, and confront ideas coming from different cultures and countries.
Within the framework of this debate we would like to reflect about the absence of a degree or any other kind of specialisation in Sports Journalism in Portuguese universities.
Both in Portugal and in most countries, almost any sector of the media, include a sports section. It seems that in the Press, the sports were one of the pioneer areas of specialised journalism.
In order to broaden the debate to reach the various subjects that deal with the communication phenomenon, we wish to bring together sports people, scholars people linked to the national and international media, who certainly will assure the quality and high standards of the debate.
