"Álvaro Siza, 1986-1995" covers all of Siza's works begun and completed since 1986: the College of Education in Setubal, the Faculty of Architecture in Oporto, the Carvalho Araujo Shop in Lisbon, the Water Tank and University Library in Aveiro, the Doedijnstraat Housing Estate in Holland, the Chiado Redevelopment Project in Lisbon, the Meteorological Centre in Barcelona, Office Block in Oliveira de Azemeis, the Vitra Plant in Germany and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago de Compostela. The book also includes an overview of all Siza's projects undertaken since 1986.

With photographs by Rui Morais de Sousa and texts by Adalberto Dias, Carlos Castanheira, Christian Ganshirt, Ignacio Rubino, Joan Falgueras, Jorge Nuno Monteiro, Jose Salgado, Madalena Cunha Matos, Mario Chaves and Pedro Vieira de Almeida.

After studying and working under Fernando Távora, Siza set up his own studio in Oporto before becoming one of the most important figures in contemporary architecture. This carefully prepared edition brings together his first works, many of which are considered masterpieces.

VILANOVA ARTIGAS

Polish-born architect Daniel Libeskind has won (among other awards) the first prize in the international competition for the extension to the Berlin Museum and is currently working in Berlin. This book showcases his designs for the Potsdamer Platz and a new Wiesbaden office complex.

Fernando Távora: Summer House at Ofir

Edited by Luiz Trigueiros, with an essay by Michel Toussaint

Built by Távora between 1957 and 1958, the Summer House at Ofir seamlessly blends the modern with the traditional, a characteristic of the architect's also found in his designs for the Vila de Feira market (1958-59) and the Tennis Pavilion in Matosinhos (1957). This book focuses on the construction of the building and the marks it left on Portuguese architecture.

ARX Portugal: A Second Nature

Together with the São Paulo Art Museum, this is one of Lina Bo Bardi's most famous buildings, one that summarises the simple yet timeless qualities of her compatriates. Or, as the architect herself puts it: "Here, we have set about a small socialist experiment".
